Five practical tips for travelling with children

Travelling with children can be complicated, so it is best to prepare for every eventuality to prevent a fun holiday from becoming a disaster. If you are a first-time mother or father, I’m sure you have many doubts about what you really need. Therefore here are five tips to have a unique and unforgettable experience, so that you travel comfortably and  do not have to worry about anything.

1. Documentation for travelling with children

Do not leave home without reviewing the documentation of the whole family, ID, passport or the necessary authorisation to travel with minors. If your child has to fly alone, he will need to carry special permits and authorisations. If you are travelling with babies by airplane, asking for the carry cot in advance, can help you travel more comfortably. If the baby no longer uses one keep in mind that it will not have its own seat, therefore you will have to take it with you.

2. First aid kit in the suitcase

When travelling with children it is necessary to carry some basic but essential things. According to the destination, you can choose what you need, but we leave you a list with the main thing: Anti-flu, mosquito bite cream, antiseptic cream, plasters, gauze, pain relievers, and so on. It is also essential, especially if the destination is long distance, to check the vaccination card of your children is in order. For some destinations, special vaccines are needed that should also appear on the card.

3. Toys

For certain moments, we need to entertain them to ensure they are calm or not bored. On holidays the schedules are different, so it is advisable to bring a game or colouring books. If your baby is very small, ensure they have a hanging toy of some sort. It will make for more bearable nights.

4. Travel at a different pace

Do not forget that when you travel with children, tourism is different. So it is essential that you select the destination and plan well. Engage them in the travel experience, but take them at their own pace. Organise routes for the whole family, but don’t forget snacks and a bottle of water.

5. Identify them

If you are travelling with children, it is better to prevent them from getting lost. Although we know that you will not take their eyes off them, one way to travel more calmly is to identify your children with a bracelet that includes your phone number. Keep in mind that if you travel to another country you must include your country’s prefix. There are many manufacturers of low cost bracelets. We recommend Stickets, who make fabric bracelets with a permanent safety closure that prevents them opening.

Follow these tips to ensure a great holidays with the kids. Remember that each trip is an unforgettable memory.

Have fun and travelling with your family
